    •  Game Changer Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysers - Online Workshop - 17 June 2021

The workshop “Game Changer Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Water Electrolysers" comes from an initiative of the FCH JU Neptune and Pretzel projects to discuss next generation polymer electrolyte membrane electrolysers. The “Game Changer” aims to identify a major step improvement for water electrolysis looking to novel solutions mainly developed at intermediate Technological Readiness Levels to significantly increase performances of the electrolysers.
The workshop will be held online on 17 June 2021 from 9:00 to 17:30 (CEST). The workshop will start with a keynote lecture by the FCH JU officers that will present the state-of-the-art of the FCH JU projects in the field of electrolysis. It will include, upon invitation, presentations from various FCH 2 JU, H2020 and bilateral projects as well as specific interventions from international experts on specific topics such as electrocatalysts, membranes, MEAs, PTLs, stacks and systems.

    About NEPTUNE

The NEPTUNE project addresses challenges associated with reducing capital costs, and increasing production rates and output pressures of water electrolysis that will be required to achieve large-scale application of PEM electrolysers.

The NEPTUNE project will develop a set of breakthrough solutions at material, stack and system levels to increase hydrogen pressure to 100 bar and current density to 4 A/cm2 for the base load, while keeping the nominal energy consumption less than 50 kWh/kg H2. The novel solutions will be validated by demonstrating a robust and rapid-response electrolyser of 48 kW nominal capacity with a production rate of 23 kg H2/day.
